The course covers application of nutrition tools, introduction to basic nutrients, their metabolic process and usage as well as their effects at different stages of life cycle on some common diseases. Learning Outcomes: Apply the basic nutrition tools in menu planning and assessment of nutritional status. Explain the processes of digestion, absorption and metabolism of macro and micro nutrients and electrolytes as they relate to nutritional process. Predict the differences in nutritional needs at various stages of the life cycle. Relate the inter relationships between macro and micronutrient intakes as they impact human health in some common diseases. Discuss the recent advances in nutritional science and apply this knowledge in planning for public health programmers.
